Information about this board

Hi everyone,

I am working on behalf of those who attend and chair the online Al-Anon meetngs we provide.  The group business meeting attendees asked if the chat/meeting room could have its own forum to post about the meeting, room, scheduled topics, chairperson and moderator (op) needs etc, so as to not interfer with the flow of messages on the groups main message board.  I am concerned that this will tend to create what seems to be further division between the meeting attendees and the message board users.  Therefore I am going to try to find that fine line that allows us to all stay unfied, opposed to being divided but allows everyone to stay informed of both the main message board information as well as the meeting room (group) information.

I will be tweeking this forum and its integration with the main forum over the next few days to make it make it as conducive to the groups needs as possible.  Any updates during this time will be posted as a reply to this post.

John

That schedule looks correct Desi.

In both boards' topic post also need to change the access blurb slightly to include the new link to the meeting room that John has put on the menu bar there...

The group meeting room can be easily accessed by clicking on the link on the menu bar above the board. You can also join directly at http://www.12stepforums.net/chatroom2.html. There are other ways to join the room also. Using mIRC or other chat client, the server we are on is irc.chat4all.org, port 6667. which users will need to add to their IRC server list, and our room name (#alanonchat) to their IRC channels.

So, do we provide the link to this board on the open board when we post for meetings?

and then eliminate the sentence
"THIS POST IS fOR INFORMATION ONLY AND WILL BE REMOVED AFTER THE MEETiNG" when we post in here?

I think John, that the meeting times should be posted here in the "information about this board" post? Or another one all together, whatever you think would be best? This is the meeting schedule that I have, please let me know if everything is correct:

Morning Meetings

Mon. - Fri. at 9am EST

Sat. - Sun at 10am EST

Each Sunday morning at 10 am EST, we will be having a Spiritual meeting with a topic relating to the Spiritual part of our program.

Night Meetings

Mon-Saturday 9PM eastern time

Sunday 7PM eastern time

Each Thursday night at 9PM EST, we will be having a Step/Tradition Meeting to help new people get to know and understand how to work the 12 steps.
After going through one Step per week, and getting through the 12 of them, we then start a Tradition a week on this same night.

Group Business Meetings are held in this room on:
The FIRST Sunday of each month at 8:30PM EST, (directly following the 7pm Sunday evening meeting.) Please join us for this meeting, as this is where the group comes together to make group related decisions.

I was told by you John that the message board is not a place to discuss about what goes on as far as meetings. (years ago)It was a separate part of mip.

I would liken it to two separate meetings in the same place, and one sharing there is a meeting at whatever time and where. It's not up to the message board to share information for the chat room. Anymore than someone mentioning we have a thread on the message board about how to respond to a raging A in the meeting.

Just my two cents. As always I am  happy just to be part of mip. (c: debilyn
